They are currently recruiting for the position of Desktop Support Technician, based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Job Description
The Information Technology and Communications (ICT) Department manages the technology and computer infrastructure that drives the organisations business systems.
Organisational level; Reporting to the Support Team Lead, in accordance with the department and overall organisational charts.
Provide users in Corporate Offices and Remote Locations with technical support of workstations / laptops, software, telephony and related infrastructure / technology.
Installation, maintenance, testing and availability of network servers and associated equipment
Provision of secure access to permitted company data as defined by security group / user role.
Availability of printers, scanners and copiers to all departments
Creation and management of User / Email accounts
Implementation of ICT Support policy / procedures
Installation, configuration, patching and on-going security of corporate network / server infrastructure (LAN, WAN, WIFI)
Installation, configuration and on-going usability of desk space / workstations / laptops, peripheral equipment and software
Ensure seamless integration of workstations / laptops with file servers, email servers and administrative systems
Maintenance of sonicWall Hardware (Firewalls, VPN, Content Filtering, Web Usage Reports) and Active Directory structure.
Liaise with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with ICT equipment
Maintain Telephone System (NEC SV8100) and install / assign digital and IP handsets
Monitor, diagnose and resolve issues logged via Support Centre (Ticket System) in line with agreed SLA
Replace Toner Cartridges, Waste Toner Bottles and maintain printers, scanners and copiers
Provide end user assistance via email, telephone or in person where required (NB. Travel to remote sites may be necessary)
Cable Management of Comms Rooms, Meeting Rooms and Desktop environments in line with HSE requirements
Maintenance of ICT equipment Asset register and floor plans
Visual Inspection and PAT Testing of ICT Equipment
Act as a mentor for Apprentices or Work experience placements
This list is not exhaustive; the Desktop Support Technician will be expected to be involved in all areas of the business as a hands-on team player.

MCSE: Windows Server 2008

Experience

Windows 7 Installation and support
Troubleshooting / resolving hardware issues and replacing hardware on both Desktop / laptop and servers
Installing software, patches, updates on Desktops, Laptops, Servers
Troubleshooting basic network, software, printing problems

This is a contract position.
