Our client is currently recruiting for the position of a Structural Engineer, based in Gloucester.
Job Description
Act as a dedicated civil engineer within Company's Engineering Directorate.
Support the Head of Civil Engineering on a range of issues.
Work with suppliers and the Regulator to ensure licensing and permitting requirements are met.
Review documents supplied by suppliers.
Execute duties as an Intelligent Customer.
Provide support to the licensing and permitting process for the new build at Wylfa and Oldbury.
Provide support to the Site Development and other directorates in relation to works at site.
Assist in the development of local procedures and working arrangements for the civil engineering discipline.
Skills and Experience
A civil engineering qualification to degree level in addition to chartered engineer status is preferred.
Significant experience of delivering significant achievements within a similar role.
Experience in complex engineering and design projects.
Experience in dynamic analysis (response spectra, blast, wind, damping, ductility, beyond margin)
Experience in specifying, developing, checking, and reviewing simple and complex dynamic modelling of skeletal, grillage, finite element, and FMEA models.
Experience of seismic design (ASCE4, ACI349, ASTM).
Knowledge of ASME Part 3 divII would be beneficial.
Experience of structural analysis, stability concepts and thermal effects.
Experience of technical materials including reinforced concrete, pre-tensioned and post-tensioned pre-stressed concrete, structural steel and composite structural design, design of masonry and timber structures.
Experience in analysis (model specification, development, control, checking and review).
Experience in the loading of structures (dead, live, environmental, DBA).
Experience of building surveys and investigation would be desirable.
Experience of maintenance and repair of structures would be desirable.
Experience of explosives would be desirable.
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding within a regulated industry would be desirable.
Project/engineering management skills and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
Experience within the nuclear sector and knowledge of international nuclear/conventional codes and standards is desirable.
Good team working skills, able to work with a wide range of other engineering and business disciplines inside and outside the Company.
Able to provide guidance and support to other members of the team.
Energy and commitment, coupled with a sense of vision, a strong intellect including strategic and operational capabilities.
Strong communication skills and the ability recognise and balance the needs to multiple stakeholders
Drive, commitment and enthusiasm, particularly for the development of nuclear power in the UK.

Mobility and commitment to undertake business travel both within the UK and overseas as required.
This is a permanent position.
