They are currently recruiting for the position of Pipelines Technical Authority, based in Aberdeen
Responsibilities will include:
Technical Authority for Pipelines systems and technology
Ensure an appropriate suite of technical standards and procedures for the Pipelines discipline is in-place and is kept up to-date with the latest best practice / industry standards.
Ensure technical conformity and compliance with legislation, EU directives and company engineering standards. This responsibility shall include providing interpretation and guidance on these documents to the benefit of the Company assets.
Conduct regular thorough reviews (e.g. 3-yearly) of the Pipelines discipline technical standards and procedures to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
Approve or reject requests for deviations from your discipline technical standards and procedures and ensure these are assessed for risk, documented for action and recorded on a deviations register.
Onshore technical review of proposals for operating equipment and plant in a non standard way and for recommending (or rejecting) their operation in this manner
Sign-off, at close-out, of certain Category 1 maintained documentation controlled within the scope of the Engineering Change procedure.
Ownership (develop, manage and review) of Performance Standards of Safety CriticalElements (SCEs) in support of the Company Verification scheme, proactively monitor SCEs for compliance and for addressing any SCE performance issues with the asset teams.
Review failures associated with Pipelines systems, equipment / SCEs and lead or participate in associated investigations / Root Cause Analysis.
Carry out review and audit activities in accordance with the requirements of the Operations Integrity Assessment Standard
Provide input to Engineering Modifications as dictated by the Engineering Change Process
Represent the Company on various external industry bodies with the purpose of keeping abreast of best industry practice, technical issues, new and revised legislation and guidance.
Give guidance, advice and direction to asset facilities, operational onshore and offshore teams as the Discipline Lead for your engineering discipline.
Carry out regular installation site visits to liaise with offshore personnel
Qualifications / Training
Degree in relevant engineering subject
Chartered Engineer
Knowledge/Skills
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably gained within the oil and gas industry
Proven track record of identifying and developing sound and innovative technical solutions
Knowledge of associated technical/engineering disciplines e.g. mechanical, piping, subsea structures
Competent user of MS office applications and Pipelines specific software
Familiar with UK industry regulations relating to the oil and gas industry
Experience of dealing with HSE-OSD, DECC and industry workgroups
Effective relationship-builder at all levels, internally and externally
Effective communicator both written and verbal
